Art Therapy Class: Build Your Own Super Hero

Today's Project:  Build Your Own SuperHero
The objective was to imagine that you are able to be any kind of superhero you can imagine. (You can't take on the persona of any current superhero.  Make up your own)  I interviewed each participant and asked them questions like this:
  • If you could have any super power you wanted, what would it be?
  • How would you use that power and on whom?
  • Who would you interact with? Would you have a special mission?
  • Superheroes often have special costumes.  What would you wear? What would it look like, what colors, etc.
  • Where would you live? (Superman has his ice fortress, Batman has the bat cave, etc.)
  • Would you have any tools or special objects? (Wonder woman has bracelets, the batmobile, etc.)
  • Would you have a sidekick or anyone who helped you?
  • What name would you give your Super Hero?
and finally, after they drew, colored, and wrote about their super hero...
  • Are there any qualities that your hero has that you already possess or that you would like to develop in yourself?  What can you see in your life today that connects you to this being?
Because this was so personal, I will only show you one superhero that I have permission to display online:
