Blue Flower - a new clayboard engraving (scratchboard)

After spending the summer painting with oils, I decided the other night that I miss my old love, scratchboard.  So I fashioned this small 6x6 inch white clayboard piece in color.  My process:  Paint several layers of colored ink onto the board before scratching out the first design.  Then go back and shade some areas with either diluted ink or back india ink pen and then etch again. This gives the piece a kind of antique engraving look.

I quite like this one, which is the third of four I will be framing to sell.  Enjoy.
