Bird Scratchboard - process



I did a little experimenting with this white clayboard engraving.  This time I tinted the entire background a medium cerulean blue, then scraped it off with a fiberglass brush.  I'm not sure how I like it but it definitely gives the background some texture.

I also tried transferring my line drawing onto the board using xylol.  I have used this process many times with black scratchboard but this is the first time I've used white.  It came out wonderfully well.

Below are all the steps I went through to create this piece.  This was about a six movie work.  Whew- a Star Wars marathon, plus two Star Trek films.  Bird, flying, space... it's logical, no?
