I watched the three hour film "The Color of Magic" last night and got a lot done on this new engraving.
I made a first pass on the pointy leaves and outlined the ribbon, carving out the white edges on the front side. Now you can see why this is called "Broad Ribbon." It is by far the widest ribbon I've ever put in one of my bouquet drawings. My intention is to decorate the ribbon with a simple, ethnic-like design.
I filled the pointy leaves in only lightly at first because I don't want them to overwhelm the piece. I will work on them some more, as in the center ones, but probably not as much as the three central flowers.
Stay tuned. I'm about half way done with this one.
