Learning to Cut a Marigold Design

Here is the kirigami card I cut in the night studio while watching "Castle,"one of my favorite shows:

I am practicing a marigold design, an elaborate knife-cut floral-like shape which uses negative space to illustrate the flower.  It is similar to the lotus design which I sometimes put at the center of a kirigami mandala - like this one.

I'm going to my first "Starving Artist Pot Luck Suppers" tonight.  This is a loose band of local artists who meet together once a month for food and networking.  It's a great idea.  Why not start one in your area?
