I guess if I'm going to work in oils, I should have three or four things going at the same time so I'm not tempted to fiddle with layers that aren't dry yet. So, setting aside my Two Flowers painting, I decided to do some practicing on another canvas.
I want to practice a particular technique (grisaille) where you paint the design in shades of gray and then layer light glazes of color over that. In this approach, value is more important than color.
What is shown here are leaves in tones of sepia. I can see, however, that gray would be more neutral. I will try gray scale leaves today.
