For this hand cut kirigami Valentine I used an unusual technique: The main part of the heart is a bifold (mirror image.) After cutting the snowflake as a circle, however, I re-folded it as a multifold and cut my traditional mandala shape. This was a bit tricky to do without tearing the joining pieces.
Still, it looks rather like a heart-shaped doily. "Doily" is what several older people have called my work. I guess they can't quite fathom it as art. That's OK. I have, in point of fact, used several of my cast-off's as doilys when serving tea and cakes.
