I've decided to practice my grisaille technique in this new painting. Originally, I made a sketch in white. Here I've begun to put a bit of depth into the sketch.
This is the most fun part for me. The farther along I get, the more nerve-wracking it is. That's probably my watercolor-mindset speaking. I'm still not used to the fact that with oils you can paint over something you don't like.
Last week I was talking to another artist and I noticed that she was painting with the frame already on the canvas. She said it made a big difference in her perspective. So I decided to sit this sketch in a frame and... wow, it really does make a difference.
