Colored Pencil Can Resemble...

Colored pencil is a very versatile medium. Here are a few examples of works which, at a distance or in print, could be mistaken for watercolor, pastel, or egg tempera. Enjoy!

Artist: Barbara Newton
This gorgeous still life reminds me of watercolors I've seen. Stunning detail.

Artist: Ian Bunn
This abstract, called "First Kiss" is particularly suited to the detail colored pencil can produce.

Artist: Glenda S. Harlan
You would have to look closely to tell the difference between this an a pastel painting.

Artist: Adriano A. Mayer
The precision in this drawing is akin to a fine egg tempera. I can't imagine the time it must have taken to produce.
