You may have noticed that some of my kirigami hearts are similar. That is because, with bifolds, I begin by using two pieces of paper. After folding them in half together, I cut out a basic shape and some of the elements. Then I take the two pages apart and finish the individual pieces separately. This saves me a lot of time, as bifolds, while looking simpler, are actually harder to design and cut than mandalas. By using this method I am still able to make one-of-a-kind work but in about the same time as it would take me to create two mandalas.
